We started studying from 1st John last Saturday, this is the major points we discussed
1 John 1: 1-4
We see John starts his message with the assurance that Jesus is there from the beginning. Then, he testifies as an eye-witness, reflecting a certainty that his fellowship is with the Father and the Son. No doubt! Not only that, but there is a certainty good enough to cause him to witness about Jesus at all times. Within a world full of uncertainty and doubts about Fundamentals, we need John’s reassurance as he speaks about Christ.
This certainty we have of, and in, Christ naturally leads to Joy (Vs. 4). However, it is not complete unless we reach out to others.
Despite the fellowship John had with the Father and the Son, he never underestimated the fellowship with one another. It was still vital for him.
In this passage, John witnessed Jesus personally before trying to reach out. Reflect on how you encountered the glory of Jesus and how you witnessed Him
In this passage, we see John is giving us the reasons why he should reach out constantly. How can we take opportunities within our regular mundane lives to share the gospel with others?
1 John 1: 5-8
Light represents purity and truth. Darkness represent evil. Reflect on: Walking in darkness, what does it mean for you?
What is the difference between “walking in the darkness” and “committing sins”?
When people caught the woman in sin (John 😎, Jesus said “whoever is without sin throws her with the stone” but then he continued talking to the woman, “go and sin no more.” There’s a condition that guides us so we don’t walk in darkness even if we sin: Sin No More
But in the same time John said.. if we sinned, blood of Jesus will purify you. And it was very sure in his words that no one can say I’m not sinning.
